What is the true definition of socialization? Who should be socializing our children? Will your children be looked at as “different” or criticized for being unsocialized? Most people think of schooling when they hear the word “education.” The two, however, are not intrinsically linked in any way. In this keynote learn why most people are schooled, but never truly educated, and how you can ensure your children get a great education, even without schooling.

In what way has God been unfair to you? What do you want that God has not already given you? At what point will you be totally satisfied with what you have in life? When will you realize that God is more than enough? At what point will you be able to “thank” God for what you have rather than “ask” God for what you want? Discontentment is a curse that will poison every relationship and every task in life. It is a curse.

What makes the creation model different and better than others? The answer lies in one’s worldview. Naturalism views the cosmos and all matter as all there ever was, is, and will be. Many people in the West think that Science is the only thing we can trust. Darwin was a major influence in this arena. Many in the East are more aligned with Transcendentalism – the physical world is a dream, an illusion, not real – and we can’t trust our senses. Postmodernism says that truth is relative and can’t be known. We’ll compare all four options to help you come to a reasonable conclusion of your own.

So here we are. Most of us would have chosen something different than what we’ve recently had to face. Who would have signed up for the last two years of crazy chaos? If I believe in a sovereign God and believe that He has a role for me to play in His plan, then how do I lean into that? What is my role in this cultural moment? Let’s look at some similarly chaotic cultural moments in Scripture and see what we can learn from those who have gone before.

Their first five years are crucial times of development for young children. Foundations are set that give them a perspective of God, themselves, and others. During these years children gain an understanding of love, obedience, and responsibility. Their worldview will be shaped by the books you read to them (including the Bible) and the freedom they have to sing, play, and explore the great outdoors of God’s wonderful Creation. With daily stress and the physical and emotional demands of the job, it’s easy to forget why we are homeschooling. We may think, “Someone else could do this better!” or “What was I thinking?” So many things can weaken our courage to continue. Relatives, friend, strangers, and even our children may ask why we do this. Do we have answers? It is important to remember why we are homeschooling so that when tough times come, our home school will not collapse.

Wouldn’t it be nice if it were? Writing is one of the subjects a homeschool mother dreads to teach. There is a reason for this. Most people do not understand the difference between academic writing and creative writing. In fact, the difference is so vast that most publishers won’t publish a novel from a person who is accomplished in writing nonfiction. Nonfiction, like math, is formulaic and easy to master. But few students are given the formula. Instead, they are given curriculum that increases writing anxiety, requiring flowery prose, metaphors, similes, onomatopoeias, alliteration, and the list tirelessly goes on. The truth is that this is not the kind of writing that earns one A’s in college; it’s quite the opposite. In this talk, Jeannie will share the simple formula that will make writing the easiest subject you teach.

Throughout Charlotte Mason’s six volumes we read about dozens of notebooks. We will look at this wide variety and see how they were used, why they were used, and which ones we should use today. Nancy will share examples from Mason’s day as well as what her own family has implemented, inspiring attendees to begin or continue this life-long habit of self-education.

One day a terrible parent in your state may do something criminal to a child— and the media may push the narrative that because the child was homeschooled, more restrictions should be placed on homeschooling families. This session will analyze some real-life situations where this has actually happened and equip you to give a compassionate, commonsense answer when family, friends, coworkers, or the local media assert that the problem is not enough homeschool regulations.

Wellness and how we fuel our bodies have become confusing topics, haven't they? It can be even more confusing to try to explain these concepts to our kids. What if you could strip away some of the noise around this topic and instead make informed, intentional decisions about how you fuel your body and your family? In this course, we'll walk through the foundations of wellness including a simple strategy for categorizing food (so easy my four-year-old can do it!), mindful eating, the key components of a nutrition label, and how you can incorporate these ideas into your homeschool. Participants look at sample student education plans and receive a template of a Student Education Plan as well as a resource list of books that will assist them in drafting their own homeschool student education plan.

We daily face giants of culture that cause our kids to lose hope instead of embracing God's promises. How do we prepare kids to stand alone even when everything seems to be falling apart? Many girls try to change their wrong?actions, but never learn to discern the wrong?thinking?behind the actions. As girls learn to identify lies which are the root issues behind struggles they face and replace them with truth, they will see how God’s Word will transform each area of their lives as the truth sets them free! In this session Sarah will include many stories, illustrations and practical tips for both mothers and daughters as she discusses topics such as a girls’ emotions, purity, an understanding of who God is, and a proper view of who we are in light of the truths from Scripture.

As women, we can experience a wide range of emotions each day. What we do with the emotions that we face is crucial to living a life of focus and peace. This workshop will stir you up to be serious about dealing with your emotions in a biblical way, and in turn encourage you as a homeschool mother in the midst of the emotional challenges that you may face with your children.

In this session Sarah shares key lessons the Lord has taught her about trusting the Lord in the area of singleness. The Lord gave her amazing opportunities in her single years, before getting married at age 41. Yet, it wasn’t always an easy road. Sarah will share honestly about the joys and the challenges of singleness, encouraging single women of all ages to trust God’s timing and pour themselves out for the Lord. She will share ways the Lord encouraged her when she needed it, and insights from Scripture that helped her through the journey.

It is easy to underestimate the tremendous potential we have as families for the Kingdom of God. In this workshop, Harold and Sarah, speaking as a father-daughter team, will share how important it is for every family to be serving the Lord together. When a family works together for the Lord, the young people are given motivation and vision, the family learns to overcome struggles and work in harmony, and mighty works are accomplished for God’s kingdom. This workshop will give encouragement, direction, and practical ideas for developing a “ministry mindset” in children and ministering together as a family.

The high school years offer a prime opportunity for parents to together with their teens to review and to evaluate their teens preparation for adulthood. They can determine a plan of action how to equip and solidify their teen’s beliefs, skills, and relational abilities necessary for future success and passionately following Christ.
