Answering God’s call to teach your children at home can be exciting at first, but it’s easy to lose sight of the vision when you find yourself overwhelmed by the demands of the homeschooling life: teaching phonics, preparing transcripts, refereeing fights, and—oh, by the way—making dinner too. But in the midst of the madness, we must constantly remind ourselves that our work matters because we’re building God’s kingdom! Come hear Zan Tyler share from history and God’s Word. And catch a glimpse of how God is using your family—and the homeschool movement—to usher in spiritual, educational, and family revival in our nation.

Zan was Joe’s best friend and ministry partner in college. He loved her and wanted to know how she felt about him. Even though they had never dated, Joe proposed out of the blue during their junior year—and Zan didn’t speak to him for a month! In spite of this rocky start, the Tylers have thoroughly enjoyed more than 40 years of marriage. They’ve experienced abundant joys and triumphs and have weathered many storms. Among Joe’s responsibilities at home, he is in charge of attitude adjustments and comic relief. Zan says, “Being able to laugh through the years has helped me survive things like threats of jail, the pressures of homeschooling, and the stress of life in general!” Enjoy this refreshing session of laughter and encouragement as Joe and Zan share candidly about the ups and downs of married life—including their biggest fight ever—while focusing on principles that have served to form the unshakeable foundation of their marriage. You’ll learn how embracing the magnificent biblical vision of marriage is the key to a vibrant relationship

When Zan Tyler was threatened with jail in 1984 for teaching her son at home, she was forced to count the costs of homeschooling and decide if it was really worth it. Zan learned powerful lessons about fighting for freedom, family, and faith—lessons we need again today! Our nation is at a crossroads where the liberties we’ve often taken for granted are at stake. We are one lawsuit, bad law, or treaty away from seeing our right to homeschool erode, and we must all work to preserve our freedoms while intentionally raising up a new generation of freedom fighters. This session will encourage and equip you with powerful principles to share with your children and teens.

Our children live in the midst of a secular, anti-Christian culture, facing issues and moral dilemmas we never had to deal with at their age. Meanwhile, startling numbers of young adults raised in evangelical homes are abandoning their faith. Training our children with a strong biblical worldview and deep spiritual roots is crucial to our mission as Christian parents and is one of the most important gifts we can give them. In this workshop you will gain insight on teaching your children how to think biblically about all areas of life, including academics. This will equip them to become powerful, faith-filled thinkers and leaders who can stand firm in the face of skepticism and opposition.

Do you want to energize your homeschool? Providing your children with creative opportunities to serve others is just what you need. In Zan’s 21 years of homeschooling, nothing amazed her more than the adventures and blessings her family encountered by serving others together. In this session, Zan Tyler will show you how to build service projects into your school days and everyday lives. She’ll also share practical service ideas. Be prepared to see your children come alive as they walk out the second most important command that God has given us by serving others in both small and big ways.

Homeschooling is demanding, and expectations—both our own and others’—can be a weighty burden. This often sets us up for intense feelings of failure and disappointment, especially when things don’t go according to plan. Even when we’re doing our best to follow God and love our families, we may suddenly find ourselves in the “fiery furnace” like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Join Zan Tyler for a refreshing talk that will set you free. We’ll cover what causes burnout, how to recover from it, and best of all, consider some simple but strategic steps to prevent burnout from happening.

Homeschooling is more like running a twenty-six mile marathon than a one-hundred yard dash. If you want to complete this race successfully, you must train in a way that builds strength, stamina, and vision and enables you to persevere until the end. Fellow homeschool-marathon runner Zan Tyler discusses lofty topics like how to create and sustain vision, but she also shares the down-to-earth need-to-know tips like pacing yourself, choosing curriculum, and developing homeschool mentors and friends. You’ll come away with a plan that will enable you to run with endurance the race that lies before you.

Conversation is a potent tool that carries with it the power of life and death, and lays the foundation for deep and meaningful relationships. Conversation is an essential tool in discipling your children. Research even indicates that conversation increases intelligence in children and teens. In this workshop Zan Tyler reveals how you can utilize the simple—and free—tool of conversation to help your children become more motivated learners. Learn strategies you can take home and implement tomorrow to increase joy in learning and minimize conflict in your family, too. You’ll come away convinced that conversation IS core curriculum.

From teaching phonics to graduating teens, from refereeing fights to nurturing faith, our lives as homeschooling parents run the gamut from the very mundane to the very meaningful. In the midst of the mind-boggling demands of homeschooling and everyday life, we constantly need to remind ourselves that our work as homeschooling moms and dads has tremendous significance in building God’s kingdom. Using the lessons of Scripture and history, this workshop will expand your vision of how God is using the homeschool movement, as well as your specific work as a homeschooling parent, to usher in spiritual, educational, and family revival—and to preserve our American heritage.

Relaxing and enjoying your children is an important part of homeschooling. Focusing on conversation with your kids is an important key to that. Conversation is also an essential tool in providing a rich educational experience. In the traditional classroom environment, students have an average of eight to ten individual interactions with their teacher each day. In your homeschool, these verbal interactions can number in the hundreds and greatly enhance the quality of education your children receive. Zan shares how the simple and free tool of conversation can help your children replace boredom with a motivation to learn. Explore strategies to minimize conflict in your home and promote camaraderie, enthusiasm, and joy in learning. Conversation is the key! Conversation IS core curriculum.

Homeschooling places great demands on parents and leads to great expectations. This combination can set us up for an intense sense of failure and disappointment. Homeschooling doesn’t always go according to our plans. Even when we are doing our best to follow God and love our families, we may find ourselves in the “fiery furnace,” like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Learn the causes of burnout and shares ways to avoid them. Get many practical tips for simplifying your life. Develop a biblical vision for what you are ultimately trying to accomplish in your children’s lives through homeschooling—a vision that will sustain you through the hard times and difficult days that are sure to come.

When Zan Tyler was threatened with jail in 1984 for teaching her son at home, she was forced to count the costs ofhomeschooling and decide if it was really worth it. Zan learned powerful lessons about fighting for freedom, family, and faith that remain pertinent today. Our nation is at a crossroads where the liberties we often take for granted are at stake. We are one lawsuit, law, or treaty away from watching our freedom erode. We must all work to preserve our homeschool freedoms, while intentionally raising up a new generation of freedom fighters. This session will encourage and equip you with powerful principles to share with your children and teens.

Our children live in the midst of a secular culture facing a host of issues and moral dilemmas that we never had to deal with at their age. Because many children are not prepared to counter this culture, startling percentages abandon their faith and beliefs as they move into adulthood. For this reason, a strong biblical worldview is one of the most important gifts we can give them. Teach them to think biblically, quipt them to become powerful thinkers, leaders, and communicators. Most importantly, give them staying power in their faith as they face opposition. Learn why biblical worldview is it crucial; how studying the life of Daniel change my teenager’s life; and why our goal as Christian homeschoolers must be bigger and broader than turning out kids with exceptional talent and high SAT scores. Through worldview training, we can better equip them to use their gifts to impact the world for Christ, help others by solving real problems, and bring glory to God in the process.

Whether we are teaching phonics or physics, refereeing sibling squabbles, or teaching our children eternal truth, we constantly need to remind ourselves that our work as homeschooling moms and dads has tremendous Kingdom significance. Just like adults, children and teens need vision to stay focused and energized. Do your kids know why you homeschool them? Do they share your vision for this innovative, spiritually powerful education you are giving them at home? Is your marriage withstanding the pressures that come with homeschooling? Hear Zan and Joe as they share powerful principles and practical suggestions for creating a family vision for homeschooling that enables you to all pull in the same direction.

In 1984, the State Superintendent of Education told Zan Tyler that he could have her put in jail for homeschooling her son. Zan knew this was no idle threat. The shock and fear that riveted her and the imminent threat of being jailed forced her to count the costs of homeschooling and decide if it was really worth it. Zan learned some powerful lessons about fighting for freedom, family, and faith that remain pertinent today. Our nation is once again at a crossroads where the liberties we often take for granted are at stake. We must all continue to work to preserve our homeschool freedoms, while intentionally raising up a new generation of freedom fighters. But how do we do that? Come to this session to be encouraged and equipped with powerful principles to share with your children and teens. Handout: https://masshope.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Tyler_Zan_1.pdf

The frenzied push for education begins earlier and earlier in today’s society. In our world of preschool-mania, some parents pay hefty amounts to consultants who can help get their youngsters into just the right preschool. Other concerned parents are putting their preschoolers on waiting lists years in advance—sometimes even while the child is still in the womb! So what constitutes a meaningful preschool education that prepares a child for a life of learning and significance? In this workshop, we will discuss learning theories as well as practical skills you can teach your children. We will also cover how to develop a love for books in even your most active little ones. Join Zan Tyler as she addresses four vital components of a superb preschool education—and be encouraged that home is indeed the ultimate preschool!

In a traditional classroom environment, students have an average of eight to ten individual interactions with their teacher each day. In your homeschool, these verbal interactions can number in the hundreds and greatly enhance the education your children receive at home. Zan Tyler shares how the simple and free tool of conversation can help your children replace boredom during lessons with a motivation to learn. Discover why parents make the best teachers and capitalize on these strengths. Explore strategies to minimize conflict in your home and promote camaraderie, enthusiasm, and learning with stimulating academics instead. Conversation is the key! Conversation IS core curriculum. From teaching phonics to graduating teens, from refereeing fights to nurturing faith, our lives as homeschooling parents run the gamut from the very mundane to the very meaningful. In the midst of the mind-boggling demands of homeschooling and everyday life, we constantly need to remind ourselves that our work as homeschooling moms and dads has tremendous Kingdom significance. Using the lessons of Scripture and history, this workshop will expand your vision of how God is using the homeschool movement, as well as your specific work as a homeschooling parent, to usher in spiritual and educational revival. Our children live in the midst of a secular culture facing a host of issues and moral dilemmas that we never had to deal with at their age. Because many children are not prepared to counter this culture, startling percentages of those raised in evangelical homes abandon their faith and beliefs as they move into adulthood. For this reason, training our children to develop a strong biblical worldview is one of the most important things we can do for them. Teaching them to think biblically about all areas of life equips them to become powerful thinkers, leaders, and communicators. Most importantly, it also gives staying power to their faith as they face opposition. Handout: https://masshope.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Tyler_Zan_5.pdf

Do you ever have those moments of panic when you wonder if you are giving your children everything they need to succeed in life? Do you worry that you are inadequate for all that homeschooling requires of you? Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night plagued by the long list of important things that still need to be done—and know there will never be enough time in the day to accomplish them? In this session, we will discuss five areas that pose particular challenges to homeschool moms and be reminded that He always holds us in the palm of His hand. Join Zan and be encouraged by God’s promises of hope, strength, power, and help for those of us who are weary and imperfect. Handout: https://masshope.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Tyler_Zan_6.pdf

Our children live in the midst of a secular culture facing a host of issues and moral dilemmas that we never had to deal with at their age. Because many children are not prepared to counter their culture, startling percentages of those raised in evangelical homes abandon their faith and beliefs as they move into adulthood. For this reason, training our children to develop a strong biblical worldview is one of the most important things we can do for them. Teaching them to think biblically about all areas of life equips them to become powerful thinkers, leaders, and communicators. Most importantly, it also gives staying power to their faith as they face opposition. In this session, Zan Tyler provides practical answers to the following questions: •What is a biblical worldview and why is it crucial for my children? •How can I teach worldview—especially if I don’t understand it myself? •How can I teach worldview to my elementary-aged children? •How can studying the life of Daniel change my teenager’s life? Our goal as Christian homeschoolers must be bigger and broader than turning out kids with exceptional talent and high SAT scores. By incorporating worldview training, we can better equip them to use their gifts to impact the world for Christ, help others by solving real problems, and bring glory to God in the process.

Do you ever have those moments of panic when you wonder if you are giving your children everything they need to succeed in life? In this session, we will discuss five areas that pose particular challenges to homeschool moms and be reminded that He always holds us in the palm of His hand. This workshop contains many practical tips for solving problems and overcoming obstacles. It also encourages a biblical vision for what you are ultimately trying to accomplish in your children’s lives through homeschooling—a vision that will sustain you through the hard times and difficult days that are sure to come.

One thing is for sure, if you have homeschooled for more than a week, people everywhere will question you about it—from grandparents and neighbors to pastors and friends to grocery store clerks and legislators. You need to be able to articulate the apologetics of homeschooling and answer questions that come from those who know you, from curious by-standers, and from those who are hostile toward homeschooling. Do you know why your parents have chosen to homeschool you? Do you know the advantages of being given a custom-designed, tailor-made education? Do you know the spiritual, emotional, and social benefits of being homeschooled? We will have fun learning how to answer these questions, as well as others that people love to ask you when they can get you away from your parents: Do you really like homeschooling? What do you think you’re missing in life? What have you been studying lately? When it comes right down to it, you will probably be called upon more frequently than your parents to make the case for homeschooling. Come and learn how to do it well.

We want our children to be leaders, but what does that mean? How will they lead? How should they lead? How do leadership principles square with the Gospel and the clarion call in Scripture to love and serve our neighbors? Training your children to have a servant’s heart is foundational to teaching them to become leaders. As service becomes part of your children’s lives, teaching leadership principles and skills is the next step. In this workshop, we will also discuss how the flexibility of homeschooling allows you to build service/leadership projects into your school day.

If you want to complete the race successfully, you must develop a training strategy that builds your strength, stamina, and vision and enables you to persevere until the end. We will discuss lofty topics like creating a powerful and sustaining vision. And we will look at down-to-earth topics like pacing yourself, choosing curriculum, and developing homeschool mentors and friends. Zan Tyler, who homeschooled her children for 21 years, provides training tips that will help you complete the God-given task of homeschooling and help you and your children “run with endurance the race that lies before us.”

Homeschooling places great demands on parents and leads to great expectations. This combination often sets us up for an intense sense of failure and disappointment. Homeschooling doesn’t always go according to our plans. Even when we are doing our best to follow God and love our families, we may find ourselves in the “fiery furnace.” In this workshop, Zan Tyler explores the causes of burnout and talks about ways to avoid them. She also explains what to do if you are already there—ready to throw in the towel and put your children on that appealing yellow school bus. This workshop contains many practical tips on streamlining your life, but it also focuses on developing a powerful, biblical vision of what you are ultimately trying to accomplish in the lives of your children through homeschooling—to sustain you through the hard times and difficult days.

When you look at your children, do you see only little people making demands on your time? Or do you see what God sees—a landscape of limitless possibilities? The statistics are tragic and startling. Great percentages of children raised in evangelical homes are not continuing in their faith and beliefs as they reach and continue into adulthood. Some of the most important academic and practical training we can give our children as we homeschool them is worldview training. For Christians, our goal is to teach our children to think biblically about all of life. During the course of this workshop, we will delve into why Christian worldview training is an absolutely crucial component of our homeschooling. We will also discuss the following questions: · What is worldview? · What function does worldview serve in my child's life? · How can I teach worldview? · How can I teach worldview if I don't understand it? · At what age should I teach worldview to my children? · Can I award high school credit for studying worldview? If we want to see true revival in our culture, we must teach our children how to think biblically about all of life-from academics to social issues to daily decisions. A true biblical worldview will equip our children to become powerful thinkers, leaders, and communicators. This workshop will change the way you teach!

Do you ever have those moments of panic when you wonder if you are giving your children everything they need to succeed in life? Or, in those rare quiet moments of thought and reflection, do you worry that you are inadequate for all that homeschooling requires of you? Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night plagued by the long list of important things that still need to be done-and know there will never be enough time in the day to accomplish them? If you, like I, have experienced these feelings and fears in your homeschooling journey, then come to this workshop and be encouraged. God knows that as human beings we are confined and surrounded by limitations and weaknesses. We will look specifically at the challenging areas of vision, finances, knowledge, home management, and fatigue. The Scripture provides promises of hope, strength, power, and help for those of us who are weak, weary, and imperfect. The Bible also instructs us in accomplishing the impossible as we bask in God's boundless resources, amazing strength, and infinite love.
