Travel with Dr. Mark through Proverbs 1-9 and learn about six character types: mockers, foolish, simple, knowledgeable, wise, and discerning. Many children and adults find themselves most closely aligned with the Simple, Foolish, and Mockers. In this seminar you will learn the essential steps a child must take to become knowledgeable, wise, and discerning. Once these steps are learned, children and adults can gain Wisdom’s highest rewards, promising that “anything you can desire cannot be compared to it.” According to Dr. Mark, if there was just one thing he could impart to children and parents, it would be this lesson.

This seminar promises to be a great awakening for creative imaginations. Based on the principles of Ecclesiastes 3, 12, Romans 4, 5 and 2 Peter 1, parents will discover the importance of stories with relatable characters who are challenged, who struggle, and who change and grow. According to Charles T. Jones, “You will be the same five years from now as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read.” This calls for a rebirth of inspiring literature that builds godly character from the ground up! In this dramatized lecture, be prepared to laugh and cry as Dr. Hamby demonstrates the power of literature and exposes the foolishness of Folly’s seduction prevalent in today’s “Christian” literature. All attendees will receive a catalog of Christian literature written from the 17 th through 19th centuries and an annotated bibliography that Mark believes is among the most powerful, life-changing literature in the world.

Children need to hear the beating of our hearts rather than the beating of our voices. Listen to their words and you will discover their heart. Rules can change behavior, but not their heart. Discipline is necessary for purposeful disobedience, but irritating character flaws are transformed by truth and loving correction. As each day begins with new compassions, only then will children feel safe to admit their faults and seek help from those they love. It is love, not fear, and grace, not law, that opens their hearts. Join Mark as he shares his experience as a shepherd and the unforgettable lesson that you don’t become a shepherd just because you own sheep.

Family conflict is inevitable. You can cover it up and try to look good before others, or you can come face-to-face with it and accept the changes that need to be made. In this hard-hitting seminar, Dr. Mark exposes how the dysfunctional family of Jacob and Rebekah serve as a microcosm of conflict for all families. From marital dysfunction to sibling rivalry, Dr. Mark exposes how children react in direct relation to their parents’ marital relationship. Once the root cause of conflict has been identified, then each family member can give what is needed and receive that which they long for – unconditional acceptance. For when we are valued, we are able to experience what God describes as being “blessed”.

In a culture sedated by images that deaden our senses and rob us of who we are created to be, a new trend is beginning to raise up powerful young leaders who are readers. Join Mark as he exposes the damaging effects that certain kinds of media, electronic games, and literature, have on the brain, the conscience, the imagination, and one’s moral and spiritual development and how certain types of literature have a direct influence upon one’s value system and powers of discernment. Most importantly, he will introduce initiatives that ignite motivation, revive the imagination, build character, and inspire excellence. If you haven’t heard this true story that changed a apathetic reader into a publisher, you won’t want to miss this!

One only has to listen to discover the heart of a child. Our goal as parents is to reach the heart, rather than simply realign behavior. Too often, we depend on rules as the primary enforcer of behavior. Rules can change behavior, but they can’t change the heart. When parents begin to discern the difference between character flaws and purposeful disobedience, they will implement a gentler approach to reaching and understanding their children. As a result, children will more willingly admit their faults and seek help from those they love. Children need to hear the beating of our hearts rather than the beating of our voices. Based on the life of Ehud the Benjamite, Mark will unveil the unique strategy that God and his parents used to prepare him to become a skilled and strategic warrior, confident leader, and a skillful entrepreneur. In this seminar we will look at the assessment of a child’s natural abilities and the instructive insights that are necessary to cultivate in each child, teen, and passionate pursuit of excellence in every area of life. This seminar promises to be an eye opener for all ages—in more ways than you expect; but in a way you will never forget! If time allows we will also take parents behind the scenes to see what inspired and motivated the great minds of Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Einstein, Edison, and the more modern creativity of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and the Beatles. They all had something in common--something available to all! Join Mark and be convinced that “Everyday you are becoming who you will be forever.”

Join Mark as he reveals an unusual passage of Scripture that is rarely preached or talked about. Twice God the Father speaks about His Son—once at His Son’s baptism and then three years later on top of a mountain. The second time He speaks he repeats what he said the first time but adds one significant component that is essential for all parents—“Listen to him.” Once you learn what this means, you will approach your children with a more purposeful plan that will cultivate their identity, confirm your love, be encouraged by your pleasure in them, and possess the confidence and authority that has been bestowed upon them. As always some of the most powerful teaching on parenting is right before our eyes. (Hebrews 5:8; David and javelins; Joseph, Daniel, Abraham, Moses, Peter: a servant and apostle—switched roles)

Gleaning from a 17th-century gem, The Education of a Child from The Wisdom of Fenelon, Mark presents a “radical reversal” of our traditional approach to a biblical education. Commissioned to educate King Louis XIV’s incorrigible grandson to become the next king of France, Francois Fenelon wrote and then lived one of the greatest educational treatises ever written. In fact, in 1802, nearly 150 years later, Fenelon’s work was still revered as the most extraordinary educational work on record. Parenting based on gentleness, mentoring, joy, and patience will be among just a few of the highlights of this seminar.

Let Go or I’ll Break Your Leg: Resolving Conflicts and Restoring Relationships Sibling rivalry, deceitfulness, manipulation, insecurity, fear, anger, parental favoritism, and selfishness are just a few of the topics that will be addressed as we go back in time and learn how one of the most unlikely children, teenager, and adults could become the recipient of God’s greatest blessing. Like Jacob of the OT, in order to receive this blessing, families need to first learn some important lessons about themselves; they must come face-to-face with who they really are. Without this knowledge, spiritual maturity and relational stability are impossible. Once learned, the next step is to embrace a truth that leads to our greatest conflict but results in the most fulfilling blessing.

An in-depth look at four parenting styles: Dictatorial, Detached, Enmeshed, and Indulgent, will reveal some of the root causes of childhood apathy, depression and rebellion. This insightful session will help parents see the effects of their particular style of parenting, and how it may be cultivating four types of foolishness in children. Teens will also benefit from these insights as they learn that their parent's failures are not an excuse for irresponsible behavior. Biblical and present-day examples of each of these styles will be illustrated, and the consequences and steps needed to break these patterns of harmful behavior will be addressed.

“Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” One only has to listen to find the heart of a child. Once found, it is essential that we don't begin to control, pressure, or manipulate in order to change behavior. Changed behavior must be the result of a changed heart. Anything less leads only to hypocrisy, rebellion. Too often parents depend on rules as the primary enforcer of behavior. Rules can change behavior, but they can't change the heart. When parents begin to see the difference between character flaws and disobedience, applying less pressure and more gentle understanding, children will be more willing to admit fault and seek help from those they love. When I first began to research the topic of laziness, I found that there was very little work available and less than a handful of books on the subject. It was then that I found a treasury of information recorded over 4000 years ago, along with a fascinating thesis on this subject written in the 1600s. In this seminar, we will explore the four root causes of laziness, and the time-tested remedies that have changed many a lazy child and demanding parent. A slothful person, according to Solomon, “will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing." But “show me a man diligent in his work and he shall stand before kings!” (Proverbs 22)

Based on the Greek understanding of Ephesians 6:4 and Colossians 3:21, Mark will paint and unforgettable picture for parents who are unknowingly quenching the spirit of their children. Children who are fully loved, fully known, without any fear of rejection, will become children who possess a low level of fear and a high level of risk and reasoning. Children who develop a high level of risk and reasoning, are children who see failure as stepping stones for success. Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Success is failure upon failure, with great enthusiasm!” You will not want to miss this session of great enthusiasm, instruction, and inspiration!
